Baldrige Surveys
Organizations that feel they have the time for an assessment may use a survey to begin to identify their strengths and opportunities for improvement. The benefit of such surveys is that they provide almost immediate feedback about the general condition of the management system.
The Baldrige program provides a three-page questionnaire based on the Baldrige Criteria, which can be found at www.quality.nist.gov. Organizations distribute the questionnaire to employees and/or their senior leadership team.
I have developed a more detailed Baldrige survey that closely follows the Baldrige Criteria to produce more specific results. Please contact me to find out more.
In my experience, no survey can provide the benefits of a Baldrige assessment. Rather than doing research to define the organization's approaches, employees and/or leaders provide their subjective opinions about those approaches, opinions that may or may not square with reality. Unlike the assessment process, little learning about the Baldrige model takes place. I also believe the assessment feedback report proves much more reliable and actionable than the survey results.
