15 Baldrige Site Visits in 2009
According to the Baldrige National Quality Program, the Panel of Judges chose 15 of this year’s 70 applicants to receive site visits, which is equivalent to being finalists for the Baldrige Award. The organizations include:
- 8 health care (42 applied)
- 2 manufacturing (2 applied)
- 2 small business (5 applied)
- 2 nonprofit (8 applied)
- 1 education (9 applied)
- 0 service (4 applied)
The health care and manufacturing site visits will take place the week of October 11th with the other site visits scheduled for the week of October 18th.
During a site visit, a team of Baldrige examiners will “verify the team’s understanding of key strengths” and “clarify its understanding of key vulnerabilities.” A complete list of processes and tools the examiners use can be found at the Examiner Learning Resource Center page on the Baldrige program’s site.
Each team submits a Site Visit Scorebook to the Panel of Judges, which meets mid-November to recommend organizations for the Award.
